Doug English, CFP®

Doug has been a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER for more than 13 years, is a Chartered Life Underwriter, and has an MBA in finance.  He started his career as an employee advisor with CUNA Mutual in Charleston, SC, and after 10 years as one of the top advisors in the company, Doug left to create his own firm in 2006.

 

Doug is a member of LPL Financial's prestigious Chairman's Club, a status reserved for the top 5% of all advisors based on revenue.  The Journal of Financial Planning, The Post and Courier, Charleston Regional Business Journal, and several other publications call on Doug for his financial expertise.  He writes for the Asheville Citizen-Times and can be heard several times a year on National Public Radio.

Sarah R. Barnhill

In 1999, Sarah helped to open the Legg Mason Office in Greenville, SC with four other advisors.  Six years later she opened her own practice as an independent financial consultant, clearing through LPL Financial, and in 2010 her practice was acquired by Scientific Investors. 

 

Sarah has taught investment classes for Furman University's "Learning in Retirement" program and is a former presenter for the Carolina Council on Economic Education.  Her "Tea and Talk" seminars - a popular, informal gathering focusing on investment and financial topics of particular interest to women - have been held in Greenville for over 15 years.

 

She holds a BA and MA from Clemson University and a Ph.D. from the University of South Carolina.  Prior to becoming a financial advisor, she taught at Clemson and Brevard College.

 

Sarah divides her time between the offices in Greenville and St. Croix.  She works with clients throughout the United States as well as in the Virgin Islands and Europe.

Erik Hofstrom

Erik graduated from The Smeal College of Business at Penn State University with a BS in economics and began his career with AXA Advisors.  While learning a great deal working with AXA, Erik eventually desired a broader breadth of investments to offer his clients, as well as the objectivity to provide the level of service he felt his clients deserved.  In 2005, Erik made the move and became an independent advisor with LPL Financial.   

 

Erik heads up the Charleston office and works with clients in Florida, Missouri and Pennsylvania, as well as in North and South Carolina.  He is actively involved in client portfolio analysis, helping to find the best ways to deliver LPL Financial’s cutting edge investment research in our portfolios, as well as providing research on protection products and alternative investments for Carolinas Retirement Specialists. 

 

Erik holds securities registrations 7 and 66 as well as his insurance licenses, and is working towards attaining his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER  designation.

 

He frequently speaks on a variety of financial planning, economic and employer benefits topics.
